Alexandria, Virginia \u2013 [June 17, 2024] \u2013 History enthusiasts and patriots alike are cordially invited to participate in the upcoming 250th Anniversary of the Signing of the Fairfax Resolves, a founding document authored by George Mason and adopted at a meeting chaired by George Washington on July 18, 1774. Events are hosted by the Sons of the American Revolution (SAR) and are scheduled to take place from July 18th to July 20th in and around Alexandria, Virginia, where the resolves were adopted. This three-day event promises a captivating journey through America\u2019s Revolutionary past, commemorating the significance of the Fairfax Resolves\u2014a crucial document that marked a turning point in the nation\u2019s quest for independence.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Organized by the Fairfax Resolves Chapter of the SAR, events will highlight locations significant to the signers of the Fairfax Resolves document and will foster a deeper understanding of this document and its significance in shaping the United States as we know it today.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Attendees will have the opportunity to engage in a variety of activities designed to evoke the essence of the Revolutionary era. The three-day itinerary includes events at historical landmarks including Mount Vernon, Gunston Hall, Pohick Church, Christ Church, and Market Square in Alexandria, Virginia. Ceremonies include the historical context and impact of the Fairfax Resolves, historical reenactors, plaque dedication ceremonies, and a gubernatorial proclamation which pays tribute to the Fairfax Resolves and the brave patriots who signed this document and contributed to the cause of American independence.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
