President’s Message

September 17, 2017

Jeff Thomas, Chapter President

Compatriots,

It has been a busy summer with the chapter participating in over 20 events since our May luncheon including commemorations, grave markings, naturalization ceremonies, parades, plaque dedications, public service awards, Eagle Scout awards and state, district and national SAR meetings. The highlight of our summer activities was the chapter’s commemoration of the 243rd anniversary of the signing of the Fairfax Resolves on July 22nd at the Historic Fairfax Courthouse. Fairfax Mayor David Meyer and the city council issued a proclamation declaring it Fairfax Resolves Day.

We have many programs planned for our Fall calendar of events beginning with our public forum and chapter meeting on Constitution Day. One of the highlights of our Fall calendar will be our Founders Day celebration of the chapter’s 38th anniversary on October 25th. Please join us for a wonderful dinner in historic Fairfax followed by a program at the Historic Fairfax Courthouse, where our chapter received its charter and founding officers were installed in October 1979. Save the date and event details will be forthcoming shortly.

As we embark on our initiatives for the rest of the year, we should continue to lift high our commitment to the SAR’s mission of patriotic, historical and educational outreach in the communities we serve. By building relationships in the community, we have an opportunity to raise the profile and the brand of the SAR and our chapter among the schools, scout troops and packs, ROTC programs, law enforcement and fire safety officers, civic and community organizations, historical and genealogy societies, teachers and veterans groups in the counties and communities we serve.

Regards,

Jeff Thomas, President
